https://twitter.com/#!/guyrcook/status/147593782869762049
now that’s a list in need. Having just updated to 3.3 it’s good to know that developers of some of the popular plugins that I use already have got the updated versions available, right now. This would be a good time to check that all your plugins are up to date with WordPress 3.3

Happy Friday.

Fireworks CS5 ….by Adobe

Today I”m installing the trial of Fireworks CS5 (own CS3 version now) the download size is 498MB, wow remember the day when I’d start a download that huge (in the days of dialup) and then just go to bed and install it the next morning. Times have changed, now the “Adobe Download Assistant” says about 30 minutes, lots faster than when downloads took about 7 minutes for each MB of file size.

The installer started, says the total install is 1GB (that took a few minutes more), the startup of the trial asked again for my Adobe ID (that I entered into the Download Assistant already…oh, well. The program has a link that is http://tv.adobe.com/product/fireworks/?trackingid=FBMQH&pss=fw_11.0_win_en_US_trial_0_FW_20040226 an archive of videos for using Fireworks.

Next, clicked Help>Updates and there were some for the CS5 trial that I’d just installed. Peeked at the list (wait and be surprised like I was) the updates will run for several minutes. 3 different adobe applications had updates, required closing CS5 to continue (yes that’s a clue)

The cost of upgrading is $149.00 from CS3 to CS5, the full price is $299.95 50% savings these days is attractive for sure.

Fresh new theme Twenty Eleven, seems timely.

The 2011 theme for WordPress is sophisticated, lightweight, and adaptable. Make it yours with a custom menu, header image, and background — then go further with available theme options for light or dark color scheme, custom link colors, and three layout choices. Usually it’ first of the year sort of thing, but in reading about the Twenty Eleven theme I decided now what time to change things to this new theme. The link I shared here will show you a preview, and has the download link for Twenty Eleven too.

Tux Paint, for young children

From their homepage:
Tux Paint is a drawing program for young children. It’s meant to be extremely easy to use, even for non-readers (with a little guidance).
Why and how did you get started?

In mid-2002, a friend from my local Linux User Group mentioned that he installed Debian Jr. for his kids, and was surprised to find the only drawing program included was Gimp‚ which we both agreed was a little hard to use, even for adults. Having written a number of open source games for Linux, I decided I could probably whip together something to fill the gap.
Who is the software’s intended audience?

Kids ages 3 to 12, though adults seem to enjoy it, too. It’s also been used for special needs kids and adults.
