How to Find Great Content to Share on Twitter

What content are you sharing on Twitter?

Do you struggle to find interesting, relevant things to tweet about every day?

Weekly Roundup – Guy R Cook 20130621

HI,   It’s Saturday PM, and now have got the front yard mowed, so have a minute to update the post I call  “Weekly Roundup”  this is for the week ending 6/21 of 2013 to help make sense of what 20130613 means.    LOTS of busy work, the hurry and wait sort, –end whine here.    Here’s some of the week’s highlights I wanted to share.

Here’s the URL for the online version of Website Magazine The Magazine for Website Success – July 2013 Special Issue in PDF format Have a peek at the Top 50 Prospect and Customer Management Solutions and more.

http://pinterest.com/pin/204843483024041180/  This is an infographic that I”ve pinned to the vDomainHosting Pinterest account, that has 5 Tips for a more Successful CALL TO ACTION (No all caps wasn’t one of them)  and do consider following our pins that you find of interest there.

Speaking of Pinterest, here’s a “How-to” Guide for advertising on Pinterest, this seemed to be a good place to add that link from Pinterest  (if you haven’t already added Pinterest to your dictionary, it’s not going to go away soon, so be ready to add that next time you’re posting in your WordPress powered blog.

The infographic on how to decide if it’s time to upgrade that good ol’ Joomla 1.5 site to 2.5.x or not is from the blog at themepartner.com , not that they’re a partner but they did make a very good infographic to answer the question:

Another nice post I found was about explaining how to Use Google Analytics to Track Results , easy as cake.

vDomainHosting, Inc.  the company that I”m President of was selected by Thumbtack.com to be in what they call a “Spotlight” I’m quite proud of that, here’s the link to the webpage that has our spotlight on the right hand side @  http://goo.gl/iZuH8 Read more about us @ Thumbtack.com – Find & book 260,000 local services | Top 10 Web Hosting Services in Tacoma, WA

Another class is in outline and it’s started from here:
Planning Session, you did that right? – GuyRCook Online Services  talking about more classes for the Sidney Gallery and Museum, so starting at the get-go seemed in order.  If you start ANY website, and don’t plan it first, well, it’s like making a new dog house without a tape measure, that doesn’t work either.

And before I get further along here,

Happy National Small Business Week to all of America’s Small Businesses!

And not to nag, but, remember the infographic about your Joomla install?  Didn’t look?  Here are ‘the words’

Joomla 1.5 was released at the start of 2008. After that 3 Joomla major revisions have been released, and many minor updates. Joomla 1.5 is currently obsolete, and is no longer supported by upgrades or patches. Therefore it is not only soft target for malware and hackers but as an out of date platform, no extension for it are being released.

Moving on to new Joomla will provide site with all modern enhancements under the hood, and it will have culmination of all security updates released till now. Site will be able to use all modern Joomla extensions

In short, upgrading will make the site more secure, easier to manage and scalable. These factors will cut expenditure in long run. Not to mention, corporations are upgrading their Joomla sites in volumes, and our upgrade team is engaged all around the month.

I had to test a link from a client related to Pinterest.com called

http://pinstamatic.com/#quote so that means I need a quote, long ago pre-2000 a man said to me “If it isn’t tested, it doesn’t work.”  More about Jerrold Prothero, Ph.D.

If you need a break now, then try this:

Create your “What people think I do, What I really do” meme easily
and share it to the world

Ok? and do share those when you’re done, so we’ll know what you really do, it’s lots better to have a pictorial record than have to guess.

ManageWP has produced another list of what they call:

ON the morning of June 20th, a tweet caught my eye and led me  into this link:

Google Analytics Launches New Analytics Administration Center

OK, I too when I first read this headline @B2Community thought “Oh no, all my dashboards won’t work”   They do work, how do you like the new look?   Can you see it more importantly, are you using Google Webmaster Tools with your efforts in Google Analytics?

Facebook – Stack Overflow is a question and answer site for facebook developers. It’s 100% free, no registration required.  So if you have questions, this is the link for that: http://facebook.stackoverflow.com/

The new mailchimp is here, optimized for tablets.  Here’s that link, if you’re not sure what MailChimp is about, don’t stay that way, it’s a great tool.

Marketing:
Oh good you’re still here, I read an excellent post about Tips on Designing our Marketing Dashboard, from Tips on How to Design Your Marketing Dashboard post, I read it all, very good from ChamberOfCommerce.com and a resource proved from eConsultantcy- all about marketing excellence is 10 useful Google Analytics custom dashboards
and here’s a bit of .htaccess basic protection for ‘most’ of the common XSS attacks:
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} base64_encode.*\(.*\) [OR]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} (\<|%3C).*script.*(\>|%3E) [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} (\<|%3C).*iframe.*(\>|%3E) [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} GLOBALS(=|\[|\%[0-9A-Z]{0,2}) [OR]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} _REQUEST(=|\[|\%[0-9A-Z]{0,2})
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index_error.php [F,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} ^(TRACE|TRACK)
RewriteRule .* - [F]

Hope you had a great week, here’s to having another one this coming week.

Use Google Analytics to Track Results

Use Google Analytics to Track Results

Taken from the post @ http://moz.com/blog/google-author-photos

In the Search Engine Optimization report in Google Analytics, you can track click-through rates for all of your impressions in Google’s search results. Simply select CTR from the site usage drop-down. You can even use the “Compare to past” feature to compare 2 date ranges.

The 2013 Digital Marketer Report and What You Can Learn From It

Written by: Eric Brantner

Eric has shared several good bits from the 2013 Digital Marketer Report, one of them is this:

The more niche you can go, the better off you are. Search engines aren’t getting any less competitive. In fact, as the numbers suggest, it’s more competitive than ever. So if you are going after highly trafficked keywords, it’s going to prove difficult (if not impossible) to get your head above water. With that in mind, the smaller the niche you can find, the better off you are. Why? Well, there are less people fighting for those search terms. You can be a big fish in a small pond, rather than one of trillions of fish in a pond where there’s no way a fisherman’s going to catch you (how do you like that metaphor?).

My question is this.  What amount of niche can be done with geo-tagging?
