Thoughts on 404 Not Found error pages

Found a website that’s sending 404’s to the website homepage, that is when someone requests a URL that was moved, changed on the new site, they’re going to the homepage. Here’s a good explanation of why that’s a bad practice, and if you’re doing that you should change your ways:
